Indonesia for Global Justice (IGJ), along with the Center of Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS), the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), and Solidaritas Perempuan (Women’s Solidarity), filed a lawsuit against Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) over the US-Indonesia trade agreement.
Walhi (Walhi) and Trend Asia also supported the lawsuit.
The plaintiffs believe the President’s actions violated the law by entering into the US trade agreement without the approval and consultation of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), given the impact this trade agreement will have on Indonesia’s more than 280 million people across many sectors of society, from energy, food, agriculture, fisheries, natural resources, to domestic industrialization policies.
